So, I figured I'd write something about me so you guys know how this wicked awesome nerd came to be, and how she became the nerd that she is. And well, every superhero needs a backstory, right? ;)
I'm Bri, and I grew up in a family of four. No, not four kids. Just four people. I know we have a small family, but they're the best! And I guess my eleven little cousins make up for the lack of siblings.
I grew up in the south. We've lived there since I was three years old, and I love this place!
As I was growing up, I was definitely your average princess. I loved pink, fairy tales, and shines things. Girly as I was though, I was ALWAYS a daddy's girl, and I would do anything my dad did. I loved riding our ATVs with him, I would help him with yard work around the house, I was/am in love with old American muscle cars; I was always by his side mimicking him.
Now, here's where the nerdy side of me started. I must've been four years old when my brother got the Nintendo 64. We loved that thing, and that's where my video game nerd started. Mario, Kirby, Donkey Kong...etc. Then the GameCube came out! Wow! And we thought games couldn't get better. The Legend of Zelda was my all time favorite! Hence my obsession with this series.
Now my brother was always in love with superheroes, and Spider-Man was his ALL TIME favorite! We watched the tv shows, all the movies, and read the comics. It wasn't just Spidey though. We saw ALL the superhero movies. The web-slinger just happened to hold a special place in my brother's heart and mind. I didn't realize it then, but everything my dad and brother were teaching me was preparing me to be this freakishly awesome and insane nerd that I am now.
As I got older, my parents sent me to school for two years, and I think that's when things really changed for me. I was picked on and embarrassed (but that might be another story for another time).
Anyway, this is when I became a tomboy. I kept my obsessions, and picked up a few more. (Final Fantasy, books, Invader Zim, and so on.)
So after school ended, and I finished my last year of middle school as a homeschooler, (no jokes please. I've heard them all. :D) with God's help, and a few friends, I found my balance. I'm a nerd. I embrace that proudly! I'm also a country girl, and a bit of a tomboy. But here's the thing, I'm ok with that! People think I'm crazy, and I get a lot of strange looks, but hey! I don't care. I've spent too many years worrying about what people think. Here's something that helped me, do what makes you happy, and don't worry about others. We are all "fearfully and wonderfully made." Why would you want to be someone else when you're made exactly how God wanted?
So there's most of my life summed up as best I could. Hope ya'll like it! :)
(This doesn't cover half of my nerdism. So there might be a part 2 eventually.)
