Chapter 3:
"I'm not going to do anything!" I screamed and braced for an attack. She slammed me against the ground, ready to strike. I squeezed my eyes shut and prepared for the worst.
"Stop." I heard a low voice say from behind Max. She turned around, eyes big. "She isn't going to hurt anyone." He said. He was very tall, with strawberry blonde hair and green eyes. It seemed as of he was looking directly at me. There was a small blonde girl next to him who pulled Max's arm.
"She's fine." The little girl said. Max looked back at me, and helped me to my feet. I stood stiffly on one leg.
"She has no where to go." The little girl said. The boy looked at Max.
"Fine." She said after several long seconds of silence. The boy smiled and helped me to my feet.
"I'm Iggy, by the way." He said. Then the little girl came up behind him and put a hand on my arm.
"And I'm Angel." She said with a big, beautiful smile on her face. She looked, well, angelic. Light blonde curls bounced as she hurried over to Max.
"I'm Rain." I told Iggy. I felt shy and frankly, I didn't know what to think. I had no idea what was going on and I was in need of rest.
"Angel told me." He said nodding. I looked up at him with a confused face.
"How did-"
"She can read minds." He said as if it were normal. I nodded, knowing that if they were raised in a science lab too then it would be normal. We walked silently over to the rest of the flock.
