Chapter 4:
I stood close to Iggy, shy of the rest of the flock. I'm not sure why, but Iggy seemed more welcoming of me. He seemed safest.
"Since Max didnt give you the best intro, I'll help you out." He said, grinning. "Okay, that's fang," he pointed to the tall, tan skinned, dark eyed boy who had helped Max when they found me. "Nudge, and Gazzy. You already met Angel and Max of course." He pointed to a girl who had mocha colored skin and big brown eyes, an a little blonde boy with bright eyes who looked like Angel. They must have been siblings. I looked up at Fang who was drilling me with an intimidating stare. He must know what I am, I thought. Max was standing next to him, talking.
"Hi Rain!" Nudge came up to me with a big smile on her face. I was barely an inch taller. "I like that name, Rain. It's really nice, and whenever I say it I think of rain on a flower. I don't know, I think if I had a different name I'd like it to be Michelle. Well, mabey. But-"
Iggy cut her off.
"Nudge, she gets it." He said, getting her to stop talking. I didn't really mind it, I just thought she was nice. But I wasn't objecting to her being quiet. I smiled politely and looked at Iggy who was staring right above my eyes.
"Is there something on my forehead?" I said, reaching up. I didn't know why he was staring at it. He blushed and looked down, and I immediately regretted saying that.
"Oh, um no, I'm blind." He said, staring at the ground. My eyes grew big and I felt sorry for him. Had they tried operating on his eyes like they did on my ears?
"Were you born that way?" I asked, looking up into his embarrassed looking face. I put a hand on his arm and he tensed.
"Uh, no. The White Coats, they..." He trailed off, lookin down again.
"That happened to me too, except it was my ears. I can still hear, just not well." I said. He looked at me, and it looked as if he was staring directly into my eyes.
"Really? I mean, I haven't been able to relate to anyone about it. The rest of the flock turned out fine I guess." He said. I smiled, and he smiled back. I knew he'd be able to sense it. I was always able to sense people.
"You can feel me if you want. You know, to get a sense of what I look like." I said, blushing furiously. He reached out a little off, so I grabbed his hand and put it on my cheek. He felt my jaw, lips, nose, and eyes. His eyes flickered with amusement.
"Nice face." He said, grinning. I blushed harder and laughed.
"Thanks." I said. Just then the little boy, Gazzy, came up.
"Are you done here?" He asked Iggy with a "you've got to be joking" look. I looked at him with a confused expression. Why did he have that look on his face?
Iggy blushed and looked directly at Gazzy.
"I need help with this bomb I'm doing." Gazzy said. My eyes widened. Iggy looked at me with a mischievous light in his eyes, and went with Gazzy.
I walked over to Nudge and sat down.
