Chapter 5:
Nudge looked up at me with curiousity in her big brown eyes.
"How old are you?" She asked.
"I think I'm 14, though the White Coats weren't nice enough toilet me know." I replied, winking. She giggled and I heard a low chuckle behind me. I turned to see Fang grinning. Max looked at him, then glared at me. Jeez.
"I'm pretty sure I'm 11. I feel like I'm 11, but sometimes I feel 13. Do you ever feel like that? It's the most irritating thing because then it makes me question how old I am and then if I ask, everyone says I'm 11, but u don't really feel like that at the-"
"Nudge, she gets it." Fang said, stopping her. I smiled at her.
"Actually, it's okay. Sometimes I do need more emphasis on one topic." I winked at her and she smiled. I heard Fang laugh again and could feel Max's eyes starring at me. Well this should be fun, I thought.
"I like you, you're pretty funny." Angel said. She was sitting next to Nudge, smiling at me. I smiled back. No one had ever said that to me before and I could feel the blood circulating in my cheeks.
"Thanks." I said quietly. I pulled my knees up to me chest and rested my head in them. I tugged at my oversized jeans, thinking about how this moment wouldn't last. Soon they would come for me, and I'd have to give myself up. I didn't want to put them in any danger. But what if they didn't come for me? They did leave me in the woods to die. I was a mistake. Girl erasers weren't meant to be, and I had proven that. There shouldn't be any Erasers, I thought. I hoped nothing bad would happen, and most of all I hoped I could stay with the Flock.
Angel put her hand on my arm.
"Don't worry. Everything is going to be fine." She said. Suddenly I remembered she could read minds. I really needed to start watching what I think.
"Thanks." I said and smiled at her.
